Surface treatment is a treatment process to improve the surface performance of components. The surface treatment methods for different materials are different. However, the purpose of all methods is to meet the corrosion resistance of the product, improve the wear resistance of the product, or decorate.
During the processing, transportation, storage, etc., the surface of the workpiece is affected by various chemical reactions, which often produce dirt such as oxidation, corrosion, and rust on the surface. If the workpiece with dirt is used directly on the mechanical accessories, it will directly affect the mechanical performance and accelerate the loss of the mechanical service life. Therefore, the workpiece needs to be surface treated or have a good protective layer to avoid affecting the use effect of the machine and extending its service life.Generally speaking, there are two understandings of surface treatment in our country. One is the broad sense of surface treatment, including physical and chemical methods such as electroplating, coating, chemical chlorination, etc.; the second is to understand the narrow sense, that is, sandblasting, shot blasting, etc.
For steel balls, it can be used as two roles of processing and being processed. Steel balls are mainly used for stainless steel balls and bearing steel balls in modern industrial manufacturing. For stainless steel balls the material itself has a certain rust resistance, especially 304 Stainless Steel Ball and stainless steel 316L, which have excellent rust resistance and can be directly applied to certain acidic environments and oxidizing environments. However, its weakness is that the hardness is relatively low. If the working environment has certain requirements for hardness and rust resistance, the two surface chrome-plated materials of 304 Stainless Steel Ball/stainless steel 316L can improve the surface hardness of the steel ball to a certain extent. The hardness of bearing steel balls is much stronger than that of stainless steel, but it lacks rust resistance. Therefore, if there is no high-intensity wear in the working environment, you can consider plating metal nickel on the surface of the bearing steel ball or carbon steel ball. It plays a role in rust prevention under certain conditions.
